Maria Domingus' music life began at the age of 6 when she would sit and listen to her older sister take piano lessons. After each of her lessons Maria would try to play what she heard. The music has been with her since then. While in High School she became the organist for her church and in college sang with a folk band while also organizing and leading a gospel choir. Her first jazz band was formed in 1981 after returning from a vacation in Europe where she played at Café Einstein in West Berlin. She has performed professionally in Turkey, Morocco, Switzerland, Thailand, Viet Nam, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Austria, the UAE, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York. Her voice has been described as "delicious” and her piano style reminiscent of the late great Shirley Horn. Having the opportunity to perform with great musicians helped add dimension and maturity to her music. She's played receptions for some of the world’s greatest people including Dick Clark, Bishop Desmond TuTu and Oprah Winfrey. Though business management was her main profession until 1996, music was and will always be her main passion.
Laurens Priem (Amsterdam, 1982) has enjoyed playing the guitar since an early age, and was admitted to the Royal Conservatory at the age of seventeen. In 2006 he graduated cum laude at the Amsterdam Conservatory, having studied with great players like Maarten van der Grinten and Jesse van Ruller. Subsequently he attended the postgraduate course and spent three months in Rio de Janeiro experiencing Brazilian music first hand. A broad taste in music allows him to be active in different projects, ranging from acoustic Jazz and Brazilian music to Soul, Hiphop, Disco and House. Besides playing he is active as a composer, arranger and bandleader for a wide variety of projects. Current projects include Wicked Jazz Sounds, Leona, Mary Davis Jr. and his own trio playing Brazilian Jazz. Foto Laurens Priem: Frank Teesink
