Folkert Oosterbeek rondde in juni 2009 zijn Master Jazz Piano af aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Na 6 jaar studie en een uitwisseling aan de prestigieuze Manhattan School of Music heeft hij zich ontwikkeld tot een veelgevraagd begeleider en solist en is betrokken bij verschillende projecten. Met zijn eigen trio speelde Folkert op de Uitmarkt 2009, waar hij in de finale van het Finale Uitmarkt Jazz Concours stond. De afgelopen jaren heeft hij op verschillende Europese podia, festivals en competities gespeeld, met o.a. Deborah J. Carter, Room Eleven, Edwin Rutten, Pete Philly & Perquisite, Julia Oschewsky en NOA. Folkert heeft les gehad van Karel Boehlee, Rob van Bavel, Kris Goessens en Jason Moran (MSM).
Born in Germany, Felix Schlarmann (1982) today lives in Amsterdam. He studied drums at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Marcel Serierse and Martijn Vink, where he graduated in 2007. Felix Schlarmann continued his studies as a master student of Martijn Vink in Amsterdam and of John Riley at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and received his master degree with an outstanding result in 2009.
At the age of nine he started playing the drums and classical percussion. Soon Felix Schlarmann was the drummer in several bands (Youth Big Band of the state Lower Saxony) and got active as a classical percussionist - he played concerts all over Germany, won several first prizes in the national German competition Jugend Musiziert, and was successful in the German jazz competition Jugend Jazzt. Several compositions for percussion are published in the Gretel Verlag, Germany. Felix Schlarmann played on radio and television, tours, concerts and festivals in Europe, USA and Asia.
Next to the writing for the FELIX SCHLARMANN GROUP in Amsterdam and FINK in New York, he plays with vocalist Julia Oschewsky and several other ensembles in Germany and the Netherlands. As a big band drummer Felix Schlarmann worked with some of the best Dutch Jazz Orchestras. At Amsterdam’s venue Studio /K Felix Schlarmann runs his own monthly session, which features the finest dutch jazz artists. In 2009 he was a teacher at the International Summer Jazz Workshop Prague.
During the years he had the chance to play with Dick Oatts, the Jazzkantine, Bert Joris, Martijn van Iterson, Cecil Bridgewater, Frans van Geest, Lydia van Dam, Ge Titular, Edwin Rutten, Martien Oster, Jasper Blom, Leni Stern, Maarten van der Grinten, Ruud Breuls, Joel Frahm, Paul Bollenback, Jesse van Ruller, Benjamin Herman, Tom Beek, Johan Plomp, Anton Goudsmit, Deborah Brown and many more.
